From the very beginning, I have been labeled as an impressionist and abstract artist, even before I knew what that meant. I use splashes of color to reveal shades of different emotions. The difference is….the emotions I reveal are sometimes not personal, but belong to others.
My art is influenced by my intuitive empathic senses. Sometimes what I paint is more reflective of the thoughts and feelings of people close to me. I usually begin painting from a completely open place. I rarely plan my creations, but rather discover them in the process and allow them to be revealed to me. Sometimes I am highly tuned into a spiritual influence. I will paint a spiritual energy by giving it a physical appearance through my art. If I am tuned into a playful mischievous sense of adventure…..my art will reflect that as well as my subject matter. Other times, I am very deep and analytical and in need of serenity and peace to perpetuate my thought. At times, I am wildly energized and my paint will take on a dance all by itself.
Under times of high stress or anxiety, my art releases the essence of what needs to be purged. My art is not only expressing who I am, and those closest to me, but hopefully will arouse a similar emotional connection in the spirit of the viewer. After all, we are all connected, and I believe viewing an artist’s work arouses in us that mysterious connection that ties us together and unites us as one.
